Book Clubs
We know the best books are the ones shared with others. Book clubs do that and more: they’re a great way to connect with neighbours and hear others’ perspectives. Whether you want to join a library book club or launch your own, we have resources for your next literary gathering.
Join one of our book clubs
The Library hosts three book clubs. Find the one that’s right for you. You’ll meet new people, read amazing literature, and join lively discussions in a respectful environment.
Community Book Club
Our Community Book Club meets in the evening every second month and is open to everyone!
Afternoon Book Club
Our Afternoon Book Club meets in the afternoon every second month and is open to everyone! The last half hour is social time.
Kids Book Club
Our Kids Book Club meets four times a year and is open to kids is grades 4-6!
Get your hands on a copy and join one of our sessions!
Library copies will be available in print, ebook, and audiobook formats on a first-come, first-serve basis. Any kind of reading or listening is welcome!
Want to purchase your own copy? You can do so at our wonderful local bookstores Gather Bookshop and Book Mountain. Mention a Squamish Library book club to get 15% off your purchase!
You can join any session(s) that you like: no formal membership required! We request that you RSVP so that we can anticipate attendance.
Creating a friendly space for discussion
A facilitator guides the conversation, and there’s plenty of space for everyone to share their thoughts.
No need to finish the book to participate—but be prepared for spoilers!
Didn’t like the book? No problem! We value diverse opinions and encourage engaging discussions regardless of your feelings about the book.
After each meeting of our Community Book Club, we publish a discussion guide for future readers to be able to use.
Start your own book club
If you’ve already got a group of readers ready to meet, here are resources to help you plan your next gathering.

Our tips for what to talk about during your meeting:
- Try the publisher’s website or the back of the book first! Often publishers will include their own discussion questions, which can be a great place to start.
- After each of our Community Book Clubs, we publish a discussion guide which include questions and themes to guide conversations. You are welcome to use these with your own book clubs.
