Your Library is getting a Makeover!  

Good things are coming your way! The Squamish Public Library is undertaking a much-needed renovation starting December 12, 2021.

  • New feature wall, highlighting new and recommended titles 
  • New central service desk 
  • New public computer area 
  • Permanent exterior take-out window for quick access from our parking lot 
  • Improvements to staff work area

For the renovation to proceed as efficiently and safely as possible, the library building will be closed to the public starting December 12, 2021, and the last day for in-person library services will be Saturday, December 11.  
Once the renovation is completed, the library will re-open in early January – the exact re-opening date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed.

But not to worry! We will be offering as many library services as possible to the community while the library building is closed.  

Items from the library will be available via our take-out service and library staff will be working behind the scenes to assist you, answer your questions, find alternative services and help with anything as best as we can during those few weeks while the library building is closed.

We recommend stocking up on library items before we close on December 12. Loan periods have been extended into the new year so you can keep your items until we re-open.

> How does library take-out work?

Our Library Take-Out service is a contactless curbside pick-up service. Patrons can place a hold on library items through our online catalogue, and once their items are ready, they can collect their items at the back of the library, following special physical distancing procedures.

> How do I place a hold online?

You can place a hold on items in our catalogue by logging into your account, searching or browsing for items, and clicking “Place a Hold” on the desired item. You will get an email or phone call when the hold is ready for you to pick up.
When you log into our catalogue for the first time, your default PIN will be the last 4-digits of your phone number. Send us an email, or check out this tutorial if you’re having trouble. 

> How do I search the library catalogue?

All of the items we have available to loan out from the library (including ebooks and downloadable audiobooks) are displayed in our online catalogue. You can browse popular selections and booklists, do a basic search, or perform a detailed advanced search for the items that you are looking for.

> What if I don’t know what I want to borrow?

We have lots of booklists for you to browse by topic. You can also see our entire backlog of booklists here.
Our library staff are happy and ready to select items for you based on your preferences. Whether you are looking for some picture books for the kids or some engaging mysteries for yourself, fill out this form and we’ll work with you to make some selections.  

> How can I return the library materials I have checked out?

Beginning November 13, 2021, checked-out materials won’t be due until January 2022. Stock up for the holiday season and enjoy until next year!
Our outside return slot (at the back of the library building) will remain open 24/7 for most of the renovations if you’d like to return materials. There are no more overdue fines at the Squamish Public Library!
