Quest Lecture Series: Pharmaceuticals – The Therapeutic Pipeline (and what it may mean for Covid-19)

We have all benefited from medicines, whether is it Advil for pain, peppermint tea for stomach aches, or something for chronic illness.  These medicines can take many forms from those which are inspired by nature, those containing metals, or those which are biological in nature.  We have all been in our homes for the last year due to Covid-19 and in this time many of us have engaged in public health in ways we have not done previously.  As the Covid-19 vaccine becomes available, it is time to consider what goes into the release of a new therapeutic.  In this presentation, Dr. Emma Davy (PhD Chemistry) will discuss the history of select previous pandemics, the pipeline for the release of a new therapeutic, some representative and landmark examples, and what this means right now.
