Community Book Club: Klara and the Sun (online)

For our next Community Book Club, we are reading Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro.

About the Book:
Here is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her. Klara and the Sun is a thrilling book that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: what does it mean to love? (from the publisher)

The library has copies on a first-come-first-served basis.
You can purchase your own copy at The Little Bookshop in Squamish or Armchair Books in Whistler (with free delivery to Squamish). Mention the Squamish Library book club to get 15% off your purchase!

Please email to sign up.
The discussion will take place online on Zoom and the meeting link will be sent to all registered participants prior to the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Virtual Community Book Club FAQs:

How does a community book club work?
The Community Book Club is a separate program every other month, so even if you have never come to a Community Book Club program before, we’d love for you to join. We will spend time discussing our thoughts on the book. While there will be a facilitator and guiding questions, there is room to discuss any thoughts or ideas about the book. Everyone is welcome to attend!

What if I didn’t like the book?
We love to hear all sort of opinions. You don’t have to like the book to join in an engaging and thoughtful discussion. You don’t even have to finish it (but expect spoilers)!

How do I sign up?
Easy, just email and mention that you would like to sign up for the next book club meeting. Let us know if you have any questions.

We hope to see you (virtually) at the next book club meeting!
